One of their most popular songs here, if youtube view counts mean anything, though all of these songs were hits.  You can hear the influence of American grunge on this one.

Yes, it was.  The movie was called Heavy Metal.  It was a close to a musical as an Xer ever gets to.

Ah interesting! Aw c'mon musicals aren't all that bad. Happy Feet, sharks tale. snow white, beauty and the beast and An American Tail was awesome and the lion king. Ooohh and Hairspray was fantastic. Yeah I do have a few I really enjoy. cough (All dogs go to heaven) cough.

Ladies that ruled the 90s:  If Tori Amos was the nimble, red fairy queen and Kat Bjelland the merciless demon virago, then Canadian singer/songwriter Sarah MacLachlan was the decade's witchy earth goddess, and her breakthrough international hit came out in 1993.

Around 1992/1993 I started hearing the term "riot grrrl":  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riot_grrrl

It was not so much a music style as a political, feminist movement that worked through multiple outlets--music, fanzines, art, political action.  While I wasn't as fond of the music of the riot grrrls as that of other contemporary girl rocker bands like Babes in Toyland or L7, I admired their purpose. 

This one was used in a recent pro-Hilary Clinton youtube video that went viral during the primaries until former BK member Tobi Vail issued a copyright infringement notice--I believe she was a Sanders supporter.

Weezer doesn't give me ennui.  Weezer reminds me of a girl who was a coworker of mine.  She was probably about 7-10 years younger than me and this was her absolute favorite band.  She was a very sweet, generous soul.  I sometimes wonder how she is doing now.  

Plus their songs were just really catchy.
